6 steps,
24 hours!

Our ice rinks arrive pre-assembled for easy set-up, but we won’t just ring the doorbell and leave it at your door.  We will walk you through every step of the way and offer extensive support even after it is up and running!

Step 1:
Laying the rink foundation.

Our Ice-America Ice Experts are deployed to be with you from the drawing board to your ice project’s completion.  Site surveys are made prior to this step to provide the mapping and foundation of your ice rink.

Establishing the “substructure” requires a hard, flat and level surface.  Sport courts and parking lots are ideal sites that can be easily transformed!

Step 2: Waterproofing
the foundation.

Once the foundation is established, a foil layer is laid over the entire surface and secured.  Special sheeting and aluminum profiles reinforce the now-waterproofed base of the rink.

Step 3:
Implementing our aluminum elements.

With the base of our rink now securely in place, we unfold our aluminum floor system and begin to assemble.  Once all the floor modules and cylinders are positioned and linked, we connect it all to the chiller—the freezing system.

A biodegradable coolant, commonly referred to as “glycol,” will then be pumped from the mainframe through to the aluminum element cylinders.

Step 4:
Installing rink boarding.

Perimeter boarding will be installed around the rink to function as barriers for the basin that will hold the ice.  This will ultimately be frozen into the ice.

Step 5:
Watering

What is ice, but frozen water?  Now, we fill the basin with water!

Step 6:
Ice-ice, baby!

With all necessary components for an ice floor now in place, the water can begin to freeze around the aluminum elements.  The ice will begin to thicken and grow and within 24 hours, you will have yourself a bonafide ice floor ready for recreational skating!
